Sugar Bakery Cupcakes!

As many of you know, I live in Connecticut.  Last week it was my birthday and my parents chose to get me a dozen of delicious, decadent cupcakes from Sugar.  In case you don't know, Sugar actually won The Cupcake Wars on The Food Network!  That means their cupcakes are some of the best in CT!

When I initially saw the packaging I thought it was a bouquet of flowers.  Then I noticed the bow had rock candy attached to it and I read the sticker.  It was a bouquet of cupcakes from Sugar!

I opened the box and was in a cupcake lovers heaven.  I had 12 assorted beautiful cupcakes in front of me.  All I wanted to do was dive right in!

However, it was breakfast time.  Luckily there was a banana cupcake waiting for me!

Banana Cupcake

I decided that I want to rate each cupcake.  The banana one was delicious.  It had a banana chip on top as garnish.  The frosting was a delicious cream cheese dream.  The cake was moist and tasted like a sweeter version of a banana muffin.  It was great for breakfast and started my day off right!

3.5/5.0

Throughout the week I'll be posting the rest of my cupcake ratings!  Let me know what your favorite type of cupcake is and where you get them!

Updated Bedroom Tour!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am redoing my bedroom!

I wanted to do an Updated Bedroom Tour before I paint the walls and start the process of redoing my bedroom.  Hope you all enjoy! :)  Let me know what your dream bedroom would look like!

Stop Kony 2012

KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.
Stop Kony 2012

Today I have learned who Kony is.  No child should live in fear.  Stop Kony 2012.

You are Special

A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, “Who still wants it…?” Still the hands were up in the air. “Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air. “My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We may feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who do love you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by who we are. You are special; Don’t ever forget that

Also Happy Valentines Day :)

Weight Loss Wednesday Update #3

Hey everyone!  Sorry for the delay, I know it's Thursday not Wednesday.  So for this week I weighed in and I've lost 5 pounds!  I'm so happy with the results and I've been losing my 2 lbs a week.  Mostly the weight loss is a result of my diet.  I've really been particular about what I'm eating and try to be as healthy as possible.  I have been going to the gym twice a week but I want to increase that because then I'll be able to tone up even more.

I'm trying to slowly transition myself in becoming a morning person.  I absolutely hate the mornings and dread getting up.  But I've been going to bed before 11 and have been setting my alarm to wake up earlier every day.  I would love to start my days by walking or jogging around my neighborhood.  Hopefully with the sun shining and spring almost in the air I'll be motivated to get up.

How's your weightloss challenge going for you?

I've decided that I'm also going to participate in Fab Ab February.  I saw a post on Pinterest with a calendar of daily ab exercises to do.  I started yesterday and love it.  It's not too complicated and will hopefully add some definition to my abs once I'm done.  I always dread the plank but hopefully by the end I can do it for a whole 2 minutes!

Inspired: Cody McCasland

The other day I was on Pinterest and found this photo of Cody McCasland.  His smile was so infectious and warming that I googled his name to learn about his story.  I watched this video from Ellen's website (I couldn't find it on YouTube)  Cody has a wonderful outlook on life at such a young age and is inspiring.  I admire this kid.

Here's a video of him inspiring a war hero.

I love learning about amazing people like Cody who have the ability to bring a smile to anyone's face.  He lives life to the fullest and isn't letting anything hold him back.  Visit Cody's website Team Cody to learn more about this inspiring boy!

Intern Diaries #1: What's an Internship? and Intro to the Series!

What's an internship?
Internships provide real world experience to those looking to explore or gain the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a particular career field. Internships are relatively short term in nature with the primary focus on getting some on the job training and taking what’s learned in the classroom and applying it to the real world.
I believe the above definition from About best describes an internship.

Let me know what you would like to see in this internship series!  Have you ever had an internship?  Tell me about it in the comments!  If you would like to be featured on the site to tell about your internship then email me.

Food Friday: Trader Joes Haul

Today's Food Friday is a recent food haul from when I went to Trader Joe's.  In 2012 I am trying to lose 20 lbs by the time I turn 21 (Video and blog post about it will be up soon!)  Doing so, I need to stock up on healthy food so I went to Trader Joe's. I love their selection of food and many of the items are less expensive than buying big name brands at other grocery stores.  They always have interesting things and I usually end up always buying something I'm happy with!  What's your favorite Trader Joe's food item?

Getting Back on Track to a Healthier Lifestyle.

This semester,  I've been stretched super thin.  Every day I have something going on.  Monday through Thursday I have classes and being a teacher's assistant.  Friday through Sunday I have work.  Somehow I manage to keep my grades up, and complete my homework.  I'll also admit that I'm a procrastinator and for most the of the time, wait for the last minute to do things.  I know I'll say on my videos not to do it and when I give studying tips not to do it, but I do.  I suppose procrastinating has become a habit at times... a bad one.

Since my freshman year I've gained weight.  I went from being happy with my body, healthy and enjoying the gym, to unhappy with my body and no time for the gym.  I try to make healthier decisions while eating, just sometimes being on the go constantly, it isn't easy to do.  I'm lucky that every night I always have a nutritious dinner, usually starting with a big delicious salad (thanks mom!)

During the summer of my senior year and right before starting college was when I was my healthiest.  I went to the gym several times a week, ate healthy, managed my time and was having a blast.  I'm determined to get back into that routine and back on track.  I actually miss going to the gym and of course miss having time for myself.

Starting next week, I'm going to join Weight Watchers.  This will help me especially so when I'm on the go I can prepare foods that will work with the points I'm allowed.  I love my vegetables and fruits so I can't wait to try some awesome new recipes!  Once I start Weight Watchers I'll let you all know so I can share my initials thoughts and share my journey with it!

My schedule next semester is much better than the one I currently have, so I'll have time to go to the gym and attend WW weigh ins.  Next year I'm turning 21, and I want my 20s to be the best time of my life.  Especially 21 (hellllo nights on the town!) haha so I hope you all will join me on the journey to getting back on track to a healthier lifestyle!

One of my pictures from my senior year to keep me motivated! :)

Half Way Through the Semester + Midterms!

I cannot believe that this semester is already half way over!  Mid grades are due Oct. 17th at my college which means I have to keep scoring high on all of my exams to get awesome final grades this semester!  So far I've really been enjoying all of my classes.  One or two I could do without to be honest, but that's life! haha

I've really been loving my English class!  We have great discussions, and my teacher always asks us great questions that really make you think.  They're questions where everyone has their own opinion and perceives it differently.  However, it's not an ethics class (thank god!) or else my head would be spinning.  I took an ethics class last semester, and man, I had some horrible headaches from trying to form my own opinion about some topics.

As many of you know, one of my majors is Early Childhood Education so I've started doing field experiences in a first grade classroom.  Pretty much it's where you observe the class and assist the teacher and the students.  I love it!  I know I'd be so happy to have a teaching career if I don't decide to go into the communications field.

Tomorrow I have 3 exams and classes from 2:30 until 10.  Thursdays are extremely draining, and then I have work Friday!  Sorry for the scatterbrained post, I have a ton going on right now!

What classes have you been enjoying this semester?
Do you have midterms this week or coming up?

Campus Couture: Rainy Day Essentials

"Rain, Rain Go Away, Come Again Another Day."

This year I'm a commuter, which means Monday through Thursday I drive to school.  When it comes to rainy days, it's a pain.  Then comes the best part, walking through the rain, and hoping you aren't soaked before class starts.  I love to dance in the rain on hot summer days, but during the fall it's too chilly and it makes me want to curl up in a blanket and go back to sleep.

I'll admit it, I'm a lazy bum when it comes to clothing on rainy days.  I already know that I'll most likely get wet.  So I might as well be comfy.  My attire for rainy days usually consists of yoga pants and a hoodie.  Fancy, huh?

However there are a few things that make my rainy days become a little brighter.   Here are my rainy day essentials:

An Umbrella
I would go for a cute pattern or bright color to add a little color to your dull, gray rainy day!

Cute Rain boots!

I love rain boots!  They keep my feet nice and warm and they come in all fun patterns and colors!  Mine are black with glitter, not too special, but they go with everything!

Hot Beverage

Hot tea, coffee etc. make my life so much better on rainy days!  It's nice to have something warm on a cool, rainy day.  I usually end up getting Dunkin Donuts because it's on my way to school.

What makes your rainy day a little bit brighter?
Let me know!
